A beach day or stay in Barú before or after a Cartagena wedding gives the people travelling to celebrate with you time together outside the wedding commitments. Start by choosing a moment with enough room around it: the morning after a late night may need different planning from a welcome gathering several days beforehand.

Think about who would come, where they start and what they need. Some will want swimming and conversation; others shade, music or an overnight stay. Not everyone needs the same plan. Separating day visitors from overnight guests makes food, transfers and room allocation clearer from the invitation onwards.

A day together around the wedding

Casa Gaviota is in Punta Piedra, Isla Barú. We welcome one group, with both house and approximately eighty metres of private beach without vendors exclusively for your party. Day events can welcome up to thirty. You can move between sea, hammocks, shade and table without changing venues for each part of the gathering.

Before sending the invitation

First confirm the date and arrangements with the team. Then give invitees the agreed times, departure point and packing information. One complete instruction is easier than correcting several versions of when the boat leaves or who returns with whom.

Include children’s ages and mobility requirements. The final approach is always by boat, using our dock. If someone needs boarding assistance or help over sand, review each leg before settling the proposal. Travelling mostly by road does not eliminate boarding.

A sample day

  • 08:00: private boat departs Cartagena.
  • Morning: arrival, swimming, kayaking when conditions suit and hammock time.
  • Midday: Caribbean lunch prepared at the house.
  • 14:30–15:00: return boat departs Barú for Cartagena.

The final time is departure from Barú, not arrival in the city. Boats do not run after dark. Confirm timings for your date and leave room for other wedding commitments; starting point, boarding and sea conditions affect the journey.

The meal as a gathering point

The day visit includes a fresh Caribbean lunch. One example is fried fish, coconut rice, patacones and salad. We agree the menu with you beforehand and review preferences, allergies and restrictions. For several households, send one list checked by everyone.

Confirm drinks, quantities and extras in the proposal. Do not budget the gathering using nightly meal rates: a day visit has its own calculation for your party. The starting point is COP 1,000,000 per group for private house-and-beach use, with a quote for your plans.

Music for your group

A papayera band is possible for the gathering, and there is a Soundboks speaker at the house. Tell us the atmosphere you picture: a conversation-focused lunch, music for part of the day or a celebration with a particular moment. That lets us discuss availability and coordination before anything is promised to guests.

Agree details rather than assuming them

Ask about costs and arrangements for the extras you want. The possibility of a papayera does not establish its price or how it is booked for your date. Settle those questions before finalising the budget, just as you would for an additional transfer.

Discuss preferences within your party too. Some may want music while others want a hammock or a quieter moment. Exclusive use gives your group space to organise itself, but does not isolate the coast from sound: boats and neighbouring properties can be audible.

Or stay with your closest people

The house sleeps up to ten across three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Overnight guests reserve the property as one group. A thirty-person daytime capacity does not provide thirty sleeping places: separate the lists before allocating rooms or inviting someone to extend the visit.

One night gives you dinner and a morning together. Two nights add a complete middle day for swimming, reading, paddling or conversation without preparing to leave. Stay check-in is 11:00 and checkout 08:00. If combining day visitors and accommodation, agree how the plans fit rather than assuming identical hours for everyone.

What a night here is like

Bedrooms have fans without air conditioning and mosquito nets renewed annually. Showers use natural-temperature fresh water without a heater. Bring repellent. Land crabs moving outside at night are harmless.

Manuel looks after the property, lives fifty metres away and is there at night. Starlink with battery backup is available, and daily cleaning covers surfaces and common areas. A beach bonfire is possible for overnight guests; discuss its coordination within the stay.

Basic includes accommodation and an equipped kitchen: buy groceries in Cartagena beforehand. Full adds a cook and meals from arrival lunch through departure breakfast. For two or more nights, the Barú village round-trip boat is included. One night in Basic adds COP 300,000 per group; Full incorporates it once. Cartagena transport is quoted separately.

Send one request with the whole plan

Use the day-trip request, choose Celebration and describe your plans in the notes. Include the Cartagena wedding date, proposed house dates, day attendees, adults and children staying with ages, starting point, food requirements and any music or bonfire wishes.

Accommodation varies by dates; check the stay enquiry if you need nights too. Our private-transport guide helps organise different returns. The indicative deposit is 50%; a request does not hold dates. We review availability and verify payment before confirming, so the practical plan is as clear as the invitation. Share that confirmed version with guests arriving from different places, and ask one organiser to consolidate later changes to headcounts or travel details.
